horsemanship 101

Ages 7-12

Are you looking for a cost effective way to see if riding is a good fit for your child? Are you looking for a fun and healthy activity geared towards developing responsibility and good work ethic? Are you interested in expanding your skills and knowledge caring for horses? If so, this is a wonderful opportunity to accomplish those goals.

Horsemanship 101 is a class series aimed towards teaching students the basis to becoming a safe and knowledgeable equestrian while allowing them to spend hands on time at the barn putting that knowledge to use. This class is structured to give students the building blocks that will allow them to be comfortable around horses either before transitioning into riding or if currently riding a building block to strengthen their ground work and become a more educated equestrian.

Students in this course will gain a strong understanding of horsemanship through readings, hands on activities, and journaling. During this educationally rich science program, students will learn: how horses move, their anatomy, horse's jobs, horse's gaits, different horse breeds, their wants and needs, proper care, horse history and more!

This hands on and classroom oriented class is perfect for avid horse lovers to extend their equine knowledge.

What pet should i get?!

Ages 6-12

"We want a pet. We want a pet. What kind of pet should we get?" Pets are life changing. They greet us when we walk in the door, comfort us when we are sad, and love us unconditionally. Many can live over a decade and are dependent on us for all of their needs. Committing to caring for a pet as a cherished member of the family is a big decision. Whether you are looking to add to your personal menagerie or just an animal lover extraordinaire, come join us on this pet adventure!

In each 60 minute class, students will explore and compare two different species of animals. Activities may include: learning animal fun facts, building toys for animals, creating animal art masterpieces, viewing animal habitats, caring for animals, playing fun animal themed games, cooking animal treats in the kitchen, and of course meeting the animals!

Each class is themed (e.g. Chinchilla vs Hedgehog, Bearded Dragon vs. Skink) and will guide our activities for the week. This is the perfect way to get your child exposed to a variety of different species of animals.
